Servicing & MOT's
Servicing & MOT are an essential parts of maintaining your vehicle ensuring its road worthiness, reducing the risk of a breakdown and meeting your legal requirements as a car or commercial vehicle owner.
Servicing your vehicle is an essential way of maintaining its performance, reliability and reducing the impact your vehicle has on the environment. Some owners service their vehicles annually or after a certain number of miles have been reached, typically 12,000 miles on an average car.
MOT's are a legal obligation for all vehicles over 3 years old. You are required by law to ensure your vehicle has an up to date valid Ministry of Transport (MOT) test certificate. MOT testers must be authorised by the government body VOSA (Vehicle and Operator Services Agency).
"If you don't have a valid up to date MOT certificate you may be liable to a fine and your insurance will not be valid"
During your MOT your vehicle undergoes a number of checks and tests to ensure its road worthiness including the interior, exterior and under the body. If a vehicle passes all of the required tests a VT20 pass certificate is issued. Some items may not fully pass the required testing levels but the vehicle may pass the MOT overall, in this instance advisory items may be notified to you should you need to be made aware of them.
If you don't have a valid up to date MOT certificate and you are involved in an accident or required to produce your vehicle documentation by law, then you may be liable to a fine and your insurance will not be valid.
